About
Victoria Singh-Thompson (she/they) is a queer, Hard-of-Hearing Australian filmmaker of Fijian-Indian descent whose work centres underrepresented perspectives, exploring trauma, sexuality and survival with nuance and sensitivity.

Their 2020 short film 'Don’t Forget To Go Home' was selected for the Melbourne International Film Festival Accelerator Lab, Outfest Fusion, Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, Inside Out LGBT, and Flickerfest.

Victoria’s latest short film, '14 in February', was funded by Screen NSW’s Screenability Film Fund and produced by Revolver. The film premiered in official competition at the 70th Sydney Film Festival and internationally at Palm Springs International ShortFest, and screened at Flickerfest, St Kilda Film Festival, and London Short Film Festival, among others. It later premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick and was featured on Director’s Library, Short of the Week, and Director’s Notes.

They have received awards and recognition from the Young Director Awards, Ciclope Asia, 1.4 Brilliant Filmmaking Awards, shots, St Kilda Film Festival, Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, and Focus on Ability Film Festival.

A graduate of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Victoria completed a Screen Australia Director’s Attachment on the SBS/Easy Tiger series 'Four Years Later' under director Fadia Abboud. They were selected for the 2024 MIFF Accelerator Lab and the 2025 Zürich Film Festival Academy, where they won the pitch competition with 'New Year'.

Victoria is currently developing their debut feature 'New Year', an eco-horror, with support from Screen NSW’s 2024 Pathways Development Program and 2025 Development Track, and expanding '14 in February' into a feature, recently selected for the Torino Film Lab NEXT 2026.
