Victoria Singh-Thompson (they/them) is an award-winning writer and director based in Eora/Sydney, working across film and commercial landscapes to craft bold and emotionally charged screen work that resonates with depth and sensitivity.
Their latest short film 14 in February funded by the Screen NSW Screenability Film Fund and produced by Revolver, had its world premiere in official competition at the 70th Sydney Film Festival and internationally at Palm Springs International ShortFest 2024. The film embarked on a global festival journey, screening at a range of acclaimed events, and earning critical praise. Including taking home Gold at the 2023 Young Director Awards in Cannes, Gold at the 1.4 Awards, the New Talent in Direction Award at the Ciclope APAC, Best Editing at the St Kilda Film Festival and Bronze in New Director of the Year Award at shots. 14 in February later premiered online as a Vimeo Staff Pick and was featured in Director’s Library, Short of the Week and Director’s Notes.
Their 2020 short film Don’t Forget To Go Home, developed through the Script to Screen Aotearoa Short Film Lab, premiered at the prestigious Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) Accelerator Lab and screened internationally at Inside Out LGBT, Outfest Fusion, Reading Festival as well as locally at Flickerfest and Casula Powerhouse. It later premiered online at Director’s Notes.
A Bachelor of Arts (Screen) graduate from the Australian Film, Television and Radio School (AFTRS), Victoria’s student work was recognised and awarded top prizes at the Focus on Ability Film Festival and the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival. They also were the recipient of the SCCI x AFTRS Fashion Fund, were a Sundance Ignite finalist, and were nominated for Young Filmmaker of the Year at the Byron Bay Film Festival.
Victoria has completed a Screen Australia Director’s Attachment on the SBS/Easy Tiger series Four Years Later under director Fadia Abboud. They were also selected as an Express Screen NSW participant for the 2024 MIFF Accelerator Lab and selected for the 2025 Zurich Film Festival Academy.
Revolver represents Victoria for commercial work and is currently developing their debut feature, an eco-horror, with support from Screen NSW.
